Q? How much does it cost to use the bike?

A. The bikes are free to use during the hours of operation. We only ask that you leave a valid driver’s license or state photo ID with us while you have the bike.

Q? How old do you need to be to rent a bike?

A. You need to be 18 years of age or older to rent a bike. Any individual under the age of 18 can ride a bike if someone 18 years of age or older signs the waiver and provides valid identification on their behalf.

Q? What forms of identification do I need to rent a bike?

A. You need to provide either a valid driver’s license or state photo ID.

Q? Why do I need to leave my ID?

A. We do not charge anything to use the bike and we do not collect a security deposit. Bike Bethlehem works on the honor system. If you do not return the bike, we will turn your ID over to the Bethlehem Police Department.

Q? How long can I ride the bike?

A. There is no time limit on the how long you can rent the bike. The bike needs to be returned to the rental location at the close of that business day.

Q? What happens if the bike is damaged or stolen while I have it out?

A. The cyclist is responsible for the bike while it is in use. We understand that some damage may occur, and will not hold the cyclist responsible for minor damage resulting from responsible use. If the bike is returned inoperable, you will be asked to pay for the bike. Cyclists are responsible for returning the bike in the condition it was issued. If the bike is stolen while you have it, you will be asked to pay for the bike.

Q? Do I have to wear a helmet?

A. Bike Bethlehem promotes safe riding practice and provides helmets for all cyclists. We strongly encourage you to wear a helmet while you use our bikes. Pennsylvania law requires bicyclists under the age of 12 to wear a helmet.

Q? Do I need to return the bike to the same location that I rented the bike?

A. Yes, bikes need to be returned to the same location that the bike was rented from. The rental location will hold your ID and return it to you once the bike is returned.
